Tide’s In Announcement

March 9, 2012 By admin 1 Comment

 {Below is the announcement for the print release of Tide’s In. The date would be late 1980s}
“Early morning tide brings forth the lonely lobsterman, to check on his lobster traps. His lobster dory begins to float free from the mud flat where it has rested, awaiting the next day’s excursion and hopefully, a rewarding catch.” Merrill E. Coffin

This is the seventh print in a limited edition series. The artist, Merrill E. Coffin, who resides in Jamestown, New York is acknowledged as one of the foremost creators of Marine and Americana art.

In the past Mr. Coffin has stated that about his creations.

“A building is no better than the foundation it is built on. The same is true of successful painting. The foundation in this case is a basic knowledge of drawing, composition, perspective, value, color and a thorough familiarity with the subject you are to paint. My favorite subjects are the wharfs, fishing boats, old barns and covered bridges of New England. Every side road, every turn in the road is  a virtual treasure of subject material. My camera, which I have with me all the time, makes it possible for me to capture these marvelous scenes; it is up to me and my paints to make these memorable.”

The original “Tide’s In” is now in the private collection of Mr. Roger Olson, Jamestown, New York.

Each print is numbered and hand signed by the artist:

Merrill E. Coffin

McCourt is proud to print and present this lithographic print. We hope it gives you pleasure.
